"Mascaron With "faun's Head" In Sculpted Marble, Italy, Early 19th Century."

Beautiful carved marble mascaron depicting a "Faun's Head". It is originally an applique element that was assembled in a large sculpted piece, perhaps a large basin or an element of antique cuirass decoration of a large bust (epaulette or gorgoneion...), this explains the presence of a small iron tab at the back... Beautiful old patina; modern marble and patinated metal base; expressive face in very good condition, just note two missing parts on the far left periphery (tip of the ear and hair), see photos... Italian work from the beginning of the 19th century or before... NB/ Possible shipping to France via Colissimo tracked: 20 euros.
