After studying at the Ecole nationale des beaux-arts, his pictorial universe was mainly oriented towards landscapes. He first found them in Normandy, then in Brittany, Provence, and mainly in Tunisia. On his return, he entered the Académie de la grande chaumière and from 1925 he exhibited at the Salon des artistes français, notably a large canvas representing the Bay of Mont Saint-Michel, now exhibited at the Musée d'Art et d'Histoire de Granville. In 1937 he was appointed member of the jury of the International Exhibition of Arts and Technology and in 1947 general commissioner of the 58th Salon des Indépendants and founded in 1953 the Association for the Diffusion of Graphic and Plastic Arts. He was also appointed Knight of the Legion of Honor, in the title of Fine Arts, and member of the National Society of Fine Arts. Appointed Knight of Arts and Letters in 1958 and Officer of the Legion of Honor in 1963), he died on February 27, 1976 in his apartment on Boulevard du Montparnasse.
