ARTIST BIOGRAPHY Max Albert Carlier was born in Tourcoing, France, to Belgian parents on May 25, 1872. He was a painter of flowers and still lifes, genres, animals, nudes and interiors. Carlier worked extensively in Brussels and also traveled extensively in Italy. He also lived for a time in Brittany, France. He is now known as one of the best still life painters of the Belgian school and today his paintings are highly sought after. He is listed in the "Deux Siecles de Signature d'Artistes de Belgique". Today his paintings are in many important private and public collections around the world, including the Ostend Museum in Belgium. Carlier died in Brussels on March 2, 1938.
