Object description :

"Wool And Silk Tapestry - Scene Of Triumph Of Artemisia I"
Tapestry by Felletin lined in wool and silk, representing a historical scene inspired by illustrious women, notably Queen **Artemisia I** of Halicarnassus, allied to the Persian king **Xerxes I**. The central motif illustrates the triumph of Artemisia during the handover of the keys to the city, surrounded by Persian soldiers. The border is decorated with military trophies, drums and scales symbolizing justice, all embellished with floral arrangements. This masterpiece, made in the Creuse region near Aubusson at the end of the 17th century, is in a beautiful state of conservation with maintenance restorations. Dimensions: 266 x 450 cm.
