Perret and Vibert in Paris: Superb Japanese-style mahogany fire screen from the Napoleon III period around 1890. Pagoda-shaped Manufacturer's identity plate: Alfred Perret founded a company in Paris in 1879 specializing in the production of luxury bamboo and wickerwork furniture as well as the import of authentic Japanese objects for a wealthy Parisian clientele. The company, which specialized in the production of carved wooden furniture inspired by the Far East and lacquered furniture, took the name "Maison des Bambous" in the early 1890s.
