Object description :

"André-antoine Ravrio, Pair Of Zephyr Candelabra From The Empire Period, 1805."
André-Antoine RAVRIO, pair of Empire period zephyr candelabra, 1805.

Pair of patinated and gilded bronze candelabra depicting a zephyr carrying two torches.
The cylindrical base with superb small sconces symbolizing "study" and "fire", the whole on a console chiseled with palmettes.
Magnificent bobeches sculpted with anthemions. One is missing (one is also missing on the pair kept in the national furniture).

This model of zephyr candelabra, made by André Antoine Ravrio (1759-1814), was in the back office of Prince Joachim Murat (1767-1815), on the first floor of the Elysée Palace.
The national furniture keeps it under the number GML 5879/1 and 2, referenced in the work of Marie-France Dupuy-Baylet "L'Heure, le Feu, la Lumière. Les bronzes du Mobilier national 1800-1870", on page 124 .

Very beautiful state of conservation with its beautiful original gilding.

Empire period, around 1805.

Height 44 cm
