"Ammonite Fossil"
Fossilized Ammonite. Ammonites are an extinct class of squid. These animals were found in large numbers all over the world. About 65 million years ago, most ammonites became extinct, as did the dinosaurs. This particular specimen is of an exceptionally large size and belongs to the species Arierites Bucklandi. This species is estimated to have lived 170/200 million years ago. Today, many ammonite fossils are found on the northern coast of France. This specimen was found in England, according to its former owner (an avid collector). This specimen weighs approximately 80 kg. Dimensions: 61h x 51w x 16d
