" French Dress Coat In Straw Yellow Taffeta Brocaded - France P. Louis XV C. 1750"
Circa 1750-1760 France French dress coat and its stomach piece, probably for the court, in straw yellow silk taffeta embroidered with a current of natural flower stems. Dress coat with train and Watteau pleats in the back unfolding in two large hollow pleats in the train. Three-quarter elbow sleeves called sabot by a work of bouillonné at the elbow. Rich facings of furbles in hollow pleats underlined with fine silk braiding, tapered crests called Chafer's Eyebrows. Reminder of the furbles on the side slits allowing access to possible pockets, which is unusual. The side slits are tightened using a ribbon of cream taffeta (damage to the ribbons). Stomach piece in similar to pin and lined with ecru linen (modern fastening ribbons to be unstitched if necessary). Original cleanliness bodice in ecru linen with these tightening ties in the back. Dress coat initially without lining except for a strip of cream silk pongé at the bottom of the coat (small damage). The blue petticoat in the photos is not part of this sale and is not for sale. A very slight depigmentation of the yellow taffeta which is very diffuse and oxidation stains distributed on the dress. The taffeta remains stable, very solid and without holes. The dress remains manageable and presentable. Stable state of conservation. Dimensions: Mannequin on size 38 France. Coat height in front 133 cm, height behind 155 cm, shoulders 35 cm, sleeves 41 cm, chest 90 cm, width at the bottom of the coat 312 cm.
