"Kashmir Silk Gallery Rug, India (circa 1975)"
Silk velvet carpet on silk foundation, density of approximately 9000 knots/dm². This splendid silk carpet, of rare finesse, evokes the Persian miniatures of the 17th century during the reign of Shah Abbas I, often compared to Louis XIV in terms of grandeur. On a navy blue field, twenty hunters embark on a royal hunt for deer, bears and rabbits, surrounded by floral motifs, trees of life, and richly colored plants. The triple border, with a main one in antique gold, is decorated with small prayer mirabs finely crowned with delicate crosses and ivory flower buds in the shape of burst diamonds. The whole presents a remarkable balance between the field and the borders. This piece, unique in its kind due to its exceptional size in length and width, is a perfect example of refined craftsmanship and carefully executed details. Dimensions: 631 x 089 cm
