Terracotta sculpture signed E. Villanis* representing two young children or cherubs sitting on a rocking toy, kissing each other on the cheek, entitled "Baiser Enfantin", on a wooden base, from the late 19th-early 20th centuries. This sculpture is in good condition, signed on the terrace. Please note: small accident on one foot and on the hand of the little girl, dirt, scratches and wear of time, see photos. * Villanis Emmanuel (1858-1914): born to Italian parents, he worked in France and exhibited at the Salon from 1886. Very influenced by the Art Nouveau spirit, he produced countless subjects, mostly female figures. Most are cast in bronze and also in variously tinted metal, often in several dimensions, or even in several versions. On the other hand, he only exhibited one bronze in Bronze "Judith" (1898) at the Salon before 1914, and plasters. Many bronze proofs signed by Villanis are in the trade and in public sales. Many statuettes evoke music. The stamp of the Société des bronzes de Paris appears frequently. (extract Les bronzes du XIXème siècle, by P.Kjellberg). Artist very well rated on ArtPrice.
