"Bust Of Madame Récamier In Carrara Marble Signed Pugi"
Large Bust of Madame De Récamier in white Carrara marble signed PUGI Guglielmo PUGI (1850-1915) Born in Fiesole in Tuscany, Guglielmo Pugi opened a sculpture workshop in Florence with his two sons, a workshop largely geared towards foreign customers. This is how several works were presented at the 1901 Pan-American Exhibition in Buffalo as well as at the Universal Exhibition in Saint-Louis in 1904. Pugi executed a large number of portraits, copies of antiques and mythological subjects. It is to this last vein that the sculpture that we present belongs, with which the artist reconnects with the works of the 18th century, and echoes those of Carrier-Belleuse or Mathurin Moreau. No breakage or regluing, very good condition HEIGHT 63cm
