Pewter EWER with S-shaped groove, gadrooned pedestal and C-shaped handle with draped crook. The base is decorated with a frieze of lanceolate tongues added by welding.
Hallmark of Mathurin SIBILLE received master in 1680: crowned hammer / P / MS
Control hallmark: small crowned lily used in Paris around 1715.
Height: 28 cm.
PARIS, Early 18th century.


One of the most beautiful models of Parisian production Well-executed consolidation at the knot. Models with these added tongues are rare; they were previously cast and then welded to the base. Identical or similar copies are reproduced in the following works.
