This delightful, gentle oil portrait is that of Monsieur de Fégely d'Onnens, known as de la couronne, a descendant of a great noble family from Fribourg. He is depicted with his faithful dog who looks at him lovingly. The painting is presented in the frame in which it was. This frame is old, from the time of the painting. On the back of this oil, executed on sheet metal, the mention of his name in Indian ink and several genealogical elements. Signed lower left "Bonjour" (pinxt) and dated 1837. Our artist, a student of Gabriel Lory, is one of the rare specialists in portraits in Neuchâtel in the first half of the 19th century. He works in Lausanne, Fribourg, Venice, Rome and Wiesbaden.
