"Oil On Canvas Still Life In A Landscape Signed Jules Cavailles"
Oil on canvas depicting a still life with flowers in a landscape, signed J. Cavailés. Born on June 20, 1901 in Carmaux (Tarn). Died on January 29, 1977 in Epigneul (Yonne). 20th century. French. Painter of figures, portraits, nudes, animated landscapes. Then a draftsman at the Carnaux mines, he met Father Artigue. A student of Jean-Paul Laurens and friend of Henri Martin, who encouraged him to come and study in Paris. He was a student of Pierre and Paul Albert Laurent at the Julian Academy in 1925. He painted in juxtaposition of pure colors, derived from a very softened Fauvism, following in this a path common to many painters between the wars abandoning intensity and the spirit of research for the joy of living. He exhibited with painters who could be said to be of Poetic reality.
