"Eros After Jb Pigalle, 19th Century Bronze Sculpture."
This charming bronze with a nuanced brown patina represents the Greek deity Eros. The young god of love in motion ready to shoot one of his arrows, his wings half-spread, he is equipped with his quiver and his bow. This subject is based on the model of the French sculptor Jean-Baptiste Pigalle (1714-1785) a copy of which is part of the Collection of the Atkinson Art Gallery in Southport in the United Kingdom, a photo of which we attach to our description. This print is of beautiful quality, it dates from the end of the 19th century around the 1880s, it is enriched with a beautiful base in finely chiseled and gilded bronze in the Louis XVI style with a tor of laurel leaves and interlacing, this base is surely original and suits it very well. Set in good condition. Dimensions: Total height: 46 cm Height of sculpture alone: 39.5 cm
