"Henri Gascard 1635-1701,attributed To. Oil On Canvas, Portrait Of A Noblewoman - 17th Century. "
Painting,
Henri Gascard 1635-1701 attribuite ti. oil on canvas, portrait of a noblewoman - 17th century. Wonderful painting, late 17th century regency style portrait of Louis XIV, made in oil on canvas. It represents a woman of high social standing, dressed in an opulent crimson silk taffeta dress, decorated with delicate lace. The skillful application of lighting techniques in the painting enhances the luxurious texture of the silk dress. The noblewoman displays a serene and calm expression, a barely visible smile. She is delicately placed on her side, on a soft damask cushion. In the painting we appreciate the meticulous detail of the lace on the sleeves and the fabrics on the décolleté, the rich draperies of the dress. In the background, on the right, you can glimpse the profile of a (French?) city lapped by a river. On the left, however, a stately home is represented, certainly the residence of the noblewoman portrayed. The painter painted several characters, barely sketched, both on the terraces of the villa and in the park, some small boats sailing on the river. The painting is in an excellent state of conservation, the frame is recent, the painting has been re-framed. Period: end of the 17th century. Dimensions: canvas cm. 81.5 x 65 - including frame cm. 95 x 80
