"Sarreguemines Rare Oyster Service Shellfish Plates Dish Barbotine Earthenware Art Nouveau Déco"
Rare and magnificent oyster service, barbotine shells composed of: - ten plates of 25 cm in diameter and 3 cm in height - a large serving dish of 37 cm in diameter and 3 cm in height with a small hollow in the center to arrange the lemon or the sauce. Rich stylized decoration finely executed in the shape of hollow scallops arranged on a bed of algae in shades of green. Weight of the set: 8.4 kg All the pieces are marked "Sarreguemines France" on the back with in addition on some plates a shape number applied in hollow in the dough, on others the letter S also in hollow. This marking as well as the slightly iridescent glaze which denotes a wood firing, allows to situate their manufacture in the Art Deco period around 1930. It will make your table a unique, refined, beautiful table! The set is in very good condition, without chips or scratches, a rare set in this condition given its age and use.
