Japan, early 18th century, Edo period (1603-1868).
The deep large plate decorated in underglaze blue, iron-red and gilt enamels, the central roundel with a river landscape scene, the cavetto with cartouches containing houses in a landscape setting, the cartouches surrounded by florals; the reverse with three flower sprays, spur marks to the base. The plate is equipped with an old metal wall hanging.
