JAPAN - End of the Edo Period (1603 - 1868) Samurai half-mask called "Mempo" in wrought and lacquered iron, KAGA workshop. Pronounced chin, mane moustache, mobile nose, pierced nostrils and visible teeth. Signed NOUBOTAKA under the chin. Four-stage gorget in black lacquered iron, the last plate lacquered in relief imitating wood and partially gilded (slight losses), white silk. Red interior lacquer (slight losses and accidents). Dimensions: 21 x 16.5 x 19 cm. Sold with its base. Dimensions with the base: 43 x 16.5 x 19 cm.
