"Silver Gilt Ciborium, France Circa 1940, By Favier Frères Orfèvres "
Gilded silver ciborium. The structure and decoration of this ciborium fit it perfectly into the current models of the second quarter of the 19th century. The foot of the ciborium is domed, circular in shape, chiseled with rosettes on the cavetto. The slope is decorated with clusters of vines, reeds and palmettes, on a guilloche background, in volute frames evoking cut-out leather patterns. The stem has an inverted pear-shaped knot, decorated with gadroons, heart-shaped beads, rope rings, and a collar decorated with a rosary frieze. The cover and the saucer have the same decoration as the terrace and are topped with a flowery cross.
