Marcel Harang, from a young age, wanted to become an artist and began working as an engraver to earn enough money to pay for his studies. He studied at the Académie Julian in Paris. It is said that he was twice awarded the Gold Medal, the highest distinction in French art, but refused to accept it, saying that he did not seek that kind of fame. In his own defense, he points out that Utrillo and Picasso, who did the same, did well. Marcel Harang was known for exhibiting his works at the Salon de l'Art Libre and the Paris Salon. Before the war (1939-1945), Harang painted with a brush.
