Good condition, signed top right, studio stamp on the back Dim; canvas 25 x 27 cm, frame 41 x 42 cm Fernand Majorel, 1878 -1965, painter from Lyon, he was a student of Bonardel and Morizet at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He is known for his nudes and landscapes, especially between the two wars. He also produced some rare bronzes and bas-reliefs. Fernand Majorel was a versatile artist, recognized for his work as a painter and sculptor. He also worked as a cabinetmaker and furniture designer. He explored different artistic styles, ranging from cubism to fauvism, including abstract art. The artist mainly worked on nudes and landscapes, especially from the interwar period. He is known for his oil painting technique, which he used to create bright, expressionist canvases. Some of Fernand Majorel's works are exhibited in museums, attesting to the recognition of his artistic talent. The Musée des Beaux-Arts de Lyon owns one of his works, an oil on canvas entitled "Place David à Lyon". This painting depicts a view of the city of Lyon in the 1930s. It is considered one of the most remarkable examples of Lyonnaise painting of the time.
