Flemish School C.1600 - Oil On Panel - Pieta

High quality composition made around 1600 on an oak panel, representing the Virgin of Mercy.

Superb treatment of light and shadows, many details (face of the Virgin, draped ...) that suggest an
excellent hand, we think of the Flemish school, unfortunately anonymous like most paintings of this
time ( and even those identified are often the subject of numerous quarrels from experts and frequent attribution changes).

Oil on oak panel slightly convex 39 x 46 cms (with framed old gold leaf, in excellent condition, about 52 x 60 cms)

Very nice presentation, light scattered repaints, old, to report as for any multi-centuries work , no expenses of restoration to envisage,
the work being in good general condition
