Perfect condition Ettore Sottsass Born in 1917 in Austria to an Italian father and an Austrian mother, Ettore Sottsass moved to Italy, the family cradle, at a very young age. His approach and commitment are part of a reflection he led at the heart of the Italian avant-garde of the 1960s until the Nuovo Design of the 1980s, when a new generation of designers claimed their spiritual heritage. Navigating between architecture, industrial design and experimental design, Ettore Sottsass occupied a prominent place on the Italian creative scene from the 1950s onwards. A committed intellectual, free spirit and nonconformist, he knew how to be at the heart of the cultural movements of his time, ensuring continuity from his founding experience at Olivetti in the 1950s to the creation of the Memphis group in 1981. Zanotta Edizioni, born in 1989, is a particular collection of decorative objects that is located in an area between art and design. The pieces in this collection are inspired by the tradition of Italian artistic craftsmanship. Freed from the constraints of industrial production, they have a strong component of “handmade” work.
