Joaquín Pinto Ortiz (Quito, August 18, 1842 - Quito, June 24, 1906) was one of the few ecuadorian romantic painters and among the first "costumbristas" of this country. He practiced, researched and experimented with all formats of painting, from sketches to polychromy and engraving, using the most diverse techniques. Four gouaches which represent musicians, a water carrier, a mail carrier and a couple of peasants.
