"Exceptional Baroque Style Jewelry Box, Mid-19th Century"
Rare and precious cabinetmaking work for this jewelry box, of great quality, made in a baroque style with Solomonic columns topped with Medici-shaped vases at the 4 corners, so-called "pendant" assembly. Of a complex construction, with curves in plan and elevation on the front and sides, a well-worked base with fine moldings, opening on the front with a drawer dressed in lemon tree to place necklaces, the thick lid also bordered with fine molding work opens on the top with a small leaf closing with a key and revealing a small locker dressed in lemon tree for bracelets. The entire lid also closes with a key, once opened we discover a beveled mirror and a whole architectural decor with columns, railings, large moldings, this baroque-style set serves as a jewelry case with 7 drawers divided into 3 different sizes to place rings and diamonds. This interior theater is removable and can be removed from the box. This splendid work of adjustment of the entire frame entirely made of oak with solid amaranth moldings as well as ebony decorations is enriched by a work of curling with veneers of precious woods such as rosewood, amaranth, maple and composite fillets with blackened checkerboard parts and small shuttles in green stained wood, there is also a whole work on a molding surrounding the base and the lid with an alternation of maple and amaranth creating a ribbon-shaped trimming decoration. The cabinetmaker has also included Greek fillets on the top and all sides of the box, the top is enriched with a 6-pointed inlaid star. This true masterpiece of cabinetmaking is in perfect condition, nothing is missing and everything is original, the silver-finished locks that are also found on the hinges and lock entries work very well with their small original keys.
