This rare French wine taster is made of 950 sterling silver and has 'G Chaput De Laps 1808' engraved on the side. It is solid and heavy, made in the late 18th century, with the inscription added at a later date.
The maker's mark, originally located inside the bowl, has been worn away and is no longer legible.
