Period Second World War, 20th century. Passive Defense's mission is to ensure the protection and safety of the civilian population as well as to prevent risks due to air attacks in times of war. From 1935, this concept developed and additional aid stations and bomb shelters were created. Passive Defense is based on a precise organization developed in peacetime. Each city is divided into sectors, themselves divided into blocks encompassing groups of buildings. These areas are managed by a block leader appointed from among the inhabitants of this district. The members of the DP are mostly composed of volunteers. Although the latter do not have an official uniform, they are identifiable by an armband marked with the letters "DP" or "Passive Defense". Their equipment consists of a bag containing a gas mask, a lamp and a whistle, as well as an Adrian helmet bearing the letters "DP", a grenade or plain.
