Showcasing the key elements of Scandinavian design—simplicity, elegance, durability, and respect for natural materials—the N°27 chair is a perfect example of Danish modernism.
Designed by Kurt Østervig and manufactured by Brande Møbelindustri during the 1950s, these sculptural chairs feature beautiful organic forms, enhanced by newly upholstered seat pads in ivory white bouclé fabric. Made of solid teak and showing only minimal signs of use, the chairs are in very good condition.
Originally trained as a shipbuilder, Kurt Østervig’s career took a turn when he became involved in furniture design in the 1940s. He worked as a designer for the E. Knudsen Studio, a well-known furniture manufacturer, before establishing his own design studio in 1947. This allowed him to collaborate with many of Denmark’s top furniture manufacturers, including Jason Møbler, Vamo Møbelfabrik, and Brande Møbelindustri. Seat height: 44cm.
