"Leather And Enamel Card Game Box With Ducal Crown Signed Alphonse Giroux"
With its beveled corners, this game box certainly shows some signs of wear due to its use. It is made of tawny leather shaped into "slats", its interior is lined with fabric and purple leather, on the lid is affixed a decorative enamel application made up of playing cards surrounding a ducal crown, which leads us to believe that it is a personalized box. In any case, it is signed by the house of Alphonse Giroux of Paris (1799 - 1881), a renowned table maker and at the forefront for Decorative Arts and other "Articles de Paris" at the time.
