A blue and white Kraak ‘bird of prey’ dish.
China, Ming dynasty, Wanli period, c. 1595-1610.

The dish in the shape of a chrysanthemum, the cavetto moulded in double-tiered scallops, decorated in the center with an underglaze blue decoration of a bird of prey in a natural landscape.

Height 3.5 cm, diameter 20.2 cm.

Condition:
The dish slightly warped from firing in the kiln, some kiln grit adhering to the foot rim and to the center decoration.
