"Divination Box "opon Igede Ifa", Yoruba, Benin Or Nigeria"
Box called "opon igede ifa" composed of four characters on a round base. They form a circle holding hands. Their heads carry the container. It is decorated with a horizontal line dotted with chevrons. The interior of the box is divided into three compartments which allowed the diviner to keep his divination tools. On the lid is carved a character lying on his side who holds his head with his hand. The hinge connecting the lid to the box is missing. Light wood, remains of polychromy, missing parts.
