Jean-Émile Laboureur, born in 1877 in Nantes, is a French artist recognized for his talents as a painter, engraver and illustrator. Trained at the Nantes School of Fine Arts then in Paris at the Julian Academy with Auguste Lepere as master, he was influenced by Gauguin, Toulouse-Lautrec and Cubism. Laboureur is distinguished by his style characterized by bright colors and dynamic compositions. Laboureur is also known for his works on everyday life, as well as his contributions to the art of books. He was influenced by Cubism and collaborated with writers and poets of his time.
