Object description :

"Antique Indo-persian Tray, Embossed Brass, 19th Century Persia, Kadjar Dynasty"
Islamic trays often have a story to tell us, reigns, legends, Koran, leave their marks in the carvings of these pieces of folk art goldwork.
Our model tells us the story of a warrior king and his symbols of protection
Rare old Indo-Persian model from the early 19th century.
Beautiful engraving accompanied by a superb patina. In the center, a king, warrior riding a harnessed horse, leaving for war, hunting or paradise (presence of the peacock).
The blue peacock is found in Persian culture.
## It should be noted that Western iconography sometimes represents the peacock drinking from the Eucharistic Chalice.
## In the Middle East, it is represented alone or on either side of the Tree of Life on ewers, prayer rugs ....: symbols of the incorruptible soul and the psychic duality of man. Cosmic symbol for Islam: when it makes the wheel, it represents either the universe, or the full moon, or the sun at its zenith. ### A Sufi legend of the golden triangle, probably of Persian origin, says:
"God created the Spirit in the form of a peacock and showed him his own image in the mirror of the divine Essence.
The peacock was seized with respectful fear and let fall drops of sweat from which all other beings were created. The deployment of the peacock's tail symbolizes the cosmic deployment of the Spirit."
# Note around the horse and this king, the presence of the peacock, symbol of immortality and renewal,
# bustards, these large birds that we find in the great Persian plains,
# a cat: It has 7 lives, the Djinns (genies or creatures of the invisible world) appear in the form of a cat. In Persia, annoying a black cat leads to an unpleasant encounter. This is nothing other than its own hemzâd,
# and a goat. The goat is a symbol of fertility, lunar and nocturnal. By sacrificing a goat, hence the popular expression "scapegoat", impurities are atoned for.
A frieze of foliage closes the scene, leading us to the hemmed and fretted edge.
