Pair Of Important Vases In The "grand Tour" Spirit, 19th Century.

These important and spectacular vases belong to the rare production of the Paris workshops around 1840.
The shape is inspired by the antique, with a wide base and a bulbous belly. The background is matte black, guilloche gilding rings with agate adorn the neck and base. Antique battle scenes as well as warriors in shiny enamel on the matte black background are of astonishing quality. The two handles with a complex design (nails, acanthus, days ...) are gilded and in a lapi lazuli tone.
A frieze of oak branches surrounds the neck. This is probably a commissioned work, which although bold is not kitsch, the quality of the workmanship remaining excellent. We will note the technique of the scenes highlighted by a clean and fine black line like a pen.
We will also think of the Italian works made for the Grand Tour sometimes rich in decorations, even interpreted, these Parisian vases have in a certain way the spirit.

Condition:
Almost perfect condition for this type of porcelain. Small old breaks on a handle without missing, invisible.
