"Raimond Lecourt Normandy "
Woman in pouring rain in a hamlet holding an umbrella that the wind has turned over. The drawing is captioned at the bottom right "une averse, presque nuit" and signed and dated 1917 at the bottom left. Raimond Lecourt (1882-1946) is a Norman painter born in Le Havre. After training at the École des Beaux-Arts in Le Havre with Charles Lhuillier, a municipal scholarship allowed him to perfect his skills in the studio of Léon Bonnat at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris alongside Raoul Dufy, Othon Friesz and the Saint Delis brothers. Wounded during the First World War following courageous actions on his part, he regained the use of his right hand after a long rehabilitation of which our drawing could be one of the testimonies. Raimond Lecourt is present in most Norman museums, known for his representations of peasants at work. Our drawing is framed in a stained wooden frame and measures, in the absence of a frame, 20x26 cm.
