" Tricolor Siamese French Revolution Period - Normandy Circa 1790"
Circa 1790 France Normandy Two flat panels of Norman skirt in Siamese woven linen and striped wool dating from the French Revolution. Commonly called droguet, this type of rustic textile made up the clothing of street people and the Sans-Culottes of the French Revolution. We can find some rare examples in Siamese including pockets or jackets called Carmagnoles. Indigo, pastel and cochineal red vegetable dyes probably. Light patina of the period but without holes or stains. Set composed of two panels, one of which 89 cm x 155 cm at 750 euros in good condition, and the second 88 cm x 148 cm with some moving period mending at 500 Euros. Good general condition of color and conservation. Dimensions: one panel 89 x 155 cm, the second panel 88 cm x 148 cm.
