"Small Mahogany Bonheur Du Jour Desk, Louis XVI / Directoire Style – Early 20th Century"
This small desk or happiness of the day opens, at the top, by a double glass door with lentil buttons equipped with ball catches. The cylinder, darkened by a mahogany burl panel highlighted with lemon tree fillets, is equipped with an original functional lock with key and ribboned brass entry. The interior offers a sliding shelf covered in a later green leather with gilded vignettes, cold and corner patterns as well as a first series of two drawers with chiseled button. This piece of furniture also has a second series of drawers, two small and one large. The latter, in mahogany burl veneer with lemon tree fillets, are decorated with bronze ring handles. The sides as well as the top are worked in the same spirit with mahogany burl in the central parts. The whole rests on four sheathed legs ending in brass sabots. This small desk will seduce in particular by its size and its warm essences. ******** Period: Early 20th century Excellent condition.
