Bronze animal sculpture from the 19th century representing two hunting dogs at rest by Pierre Jules Mêne. 1810-1879 Paris. Pierre Jules Mêne was one of the greatest sculptors of the 19th century, very popular under Napoleon III, like Barye or Auguste Cain, his son-in-law. He participated in the Paris Salon of 1938 and 1879. Note that he had his own foundry workshop until 1877, later replaced by the Susse workshops. We are here in the presence of a magnificent work preceding this date. Piece listed in the catalogue of the work of reason.
