Beautiful work by the painter born in Allauch near Marseille, Etienne Mein, which represents a view of the Sainte Victoire in Aix en Provence animated by a shepherd and his goat. Passionate about painting and engraving, Etienne Mein won a first prize at the École des Beaux Arts in Marseille. He exhibited in 1893 at the Salon des Artistes Français and became a member of the Sociétés des Artistes Français and des Etafortistes Français.
He devoted himself to teaching, first at the Professional Courses then as a professor at the École des Beaux Arts in Marseille. He participated in exhibitions in Marseille, Narbonne, Carcassonne and Tunis, and received an Honorable Mention at the Salon des Artistes Français in Paris in 1920 for his painting "Coin d'Atelier".
Passionate about the beauty of nature, he travels and paints in Haute-Savoie, Isère, Drôme, Haute-Loire and Paris on the occasion of the Salons, but especially in this dear sunny Provence to which he remains faithful.
He is the author of a very large number of paintings, but also of drawings and etchings.
Dimensions: 26.5 x 35.5 cm without frame and 39 x 47 cm with its modern frame in gilded wood.
