Large and beautiful proof in spelter with three patinas in an excellent state of conservation. This work is signed Ferville-Suan. It depicts an angel in the guise of a young woman brandishing a torch and holding a crown. Her soft hair is held back by a diadem, highlighting her smiling face. She is dressed in a light veil that flies away under the effect of her enthusiasm and the wind. She seems unstoppable. The torch symbolizes life and freedom. The crown represents victory and honor. Charles Georges Ferville-Suan is a French sculptor born in Le Mans (Sarthe) in 1847 and died in the same city in 1925. He is the son of the painter Charles Suan. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in the studio of the sculptor François Jouffroy. He debuted at the Paris Salon in 1872 with medallions and statuettes and obtained an honorable mention.
