"Signed Isfahan Carpet, Iran, Circa 1960/65, Imperial Workshop"
A rare and unique piece, this Isfahan carpet signed "Seyyed Mohammed Ali Moa'yyedi Naghghaach" dates from the Shah's era (around 1960/65), woven in an imperial workshop after a great Iranian artist. In high-quality silky lamb's wool velvet, the flowers are surrounded by silk, with foundations in warps, wefts, and fringes also in silk. The density is approximately 10,000 to 11,000 knots per dm², guaranteeing beautiful finesse and bright polychromy. The decoration, of great poetry and originality, presents an ivory field decorated with a large celadon green star medallion, surrounded by bouquets of polychrome flowers and scarab-shaped jewels. The whole is harmoniously balanced by multi-colored floral vases and four spandrels in the shape of eagle wings. The five borders, including the main one in Prussian blue, are decorated with undulating garlands and refined motifs of finely drawn diamonds and fruits. This exceptional carpet is distinguished by its decoration, its graphics, and the signature of the master weaver artist attached to the Shah, making it an extremely rare piece.
