"Ibedji Yoruba Statuette, Nigeria"
Male Ibedji presented naked standing on a circular pedestal. He is camped on small massive legs, long arms in an arc and hands placed on the hips. His scarified face with wide open eyes, displays a beautiful joyful and protective expressiveness. He wears a conical cap on his head with checkerboard and linear patterns with remains of blue polychromy. He wears a necklace of yellow trade beads around his neck. Hardwood with a shiny honey patina, metal inlays in his left eye, discreet traces of indigo pigment on the headdress, missing the metal nail of the right eye.
