"Headdress In Cannetilles, Silver Sequins And Indian - Germany, Early 19th Century"
Early 19th century Germany or Alsace Beautiful rigid headdress decorated with silver metallic embroidery probably from South Germany or Alsace (?) and dating from the early 19th century. Papier-mâché frame covered with cream silk pongé wrapping the bun and forming a braid at the bottom. Skilled silver embroidery of sequins and cannetilles forming the relief of a large stylized flower. At the bottom an embroidered pass holding rigid pleats. Iron wire decorated with lace around the edge and Indian lining with chimney sweep background dating from the early 19th century. Small attachment link in pink glazed cotton to hold the bun in place. A few very rare missing silver threads. Clean and non-oxidized piece. Very good general condition of structure and conservation. Dimensions: Diameter 15 cm. Height 20 cm.
