Yves Lac is a self-taught French painter who trained little by little through travel, experience and practice. Passionate about the sea and landscapes, his main sources of inspiration, the artist develops an expressionist painting. His approach thus borrows from reality some of its benchmarks and referents and from the imagination the evocation of the inner world and emotion. Practicing to transcribe his favorite themes in painting, the coastline, markets, villages, oceans, seas and navigation, Yves Lac favors a practice of painting on motif or on model when conditions allow. He has thus traveled and set up nomadic and ephemeral workshops along the French coasts and main ports and islands. "Yves Lac is a painter in love with the sea, it is a passion that provides him with a mobile but constant escape on the World that invites us to travel". Capturing an impression, soaking up an atmosphere, a sound, a smell, are the starting point of a practice that stylizes reality to achieve a greater expressive intensity. In his work, Yves Lac indulges almost in a confidence, the total projection of a subjectivity facing the emotion of a landscape, in the feeling of solitude facing the sea, in the vertigo facing the waves or the immensity, so many universal subjects that here find their author.
