Rare model in this style with bronzes with a double brown and gold patina, with beautiful chiseling.
Several details highlight the elegance of this chandelier: the ceiling light decorated with a finely chiseled crown of crosspieces from which emerge three chimera heads; the flame emerging from the center of the oil lamp; the generous crown of water leaves and acanthus leaves decorating the lower part of the chandelier, and finally, the pine cone closing the lower part.
The whole reveals very beautiful work from the cast iron to the chiseling.
The oil lamp is characteristic of the allegories of lighting under the Empire. The ornamentalists Percier and Fontaine also used it in some large models of candelabra, bouillotte lamps, wall lights, etc. This is an object of the decorative arts of ancient Rome, a strong power under the Empire of Caesar, to be compared with the desire to conquer Europe of Napoleon I.
This antique chandelier is in an exceptional state of conservation, cleaned by an art bronzier (MOF).
Not electrified.
Empire period.
