Object description :

"Monumental Porcelain Vases, 19th Century. "
This large pair of porcelain vases is painted, on a dark beige background, with large bouquets of polychrome flowers. They are arranged inside large reserves, surrounded by a wide ribbon in matte and shiny gold, decorated with a frieze of pastilles. The bottom of the vase, midnight blue in color, is enhanced with a rich decoration, in gold color, consisting of a wave movement punctuated by fleurons that runs up to the neck. The latter, decorated with a fleuron, has on either side two small garlands of leaves that climb up to the slightly flared rim. These very high quality ornaments are reminiscent of the prestigious production of the Sèvres factory. These vases rest on a very elegant gilded bronze base bordered by two rows of pearls, and on the belly between the reserves, there are two small gilded bronze falls in the shape of a twig supporting a few ivy leaves. The back of these vases does not bear any mark, their high quality has led us to compare them to certain Parisian manufacturers, we have thought in turn that it could be Dagoty, Rousseau, Honoré, Dihl or others, many of them could have competed with the Manufacture de Sèvres especially since the artists who decorated the porcelains went from one to the other according to their commitments. If these bouquets of flowers painted with great delicacy inspired the greatest respect in us, their composition on a colored background that seems unusual to us did not allow us to attribute them to one or the other. The state of conservation of these vases is perfect, there is no restoration, the gilding of the bronze is original. Parisian Manufacture. End of the Restoration, around 1840-1850. Height 52 cm.
