"Pair Of Carved Stone Lions On Their Bases, 17th Century"
Pair of lions placed on their limestone base, from the 17th century. Seated, lying down, holding a sphere in their paws, a symbol of power somewhat inspired by the Medici lions. Of very slightly different sizes (lioness and lion?), one tail on the right, the other on the left. Original bases, carved from the same stone, with Louis XIV molding. Beautiful decorative elements, originally the start of a terrace balustrade or exterior staircase. Work from the South of France, late 17th century. A little eroded by time, but full of charm, and of irreproachable sincerity.
