"Portrait Of An Architect From The Louis XVI Period, XVIIIth Century "
Rectangular oil on canvas depicting an architect from the Louis XVI 18th century. The architect is depicted sitting leaning on his desk on which are placed books on architecture and science and a compass. In his right hand he holds a mechanical pencil placed on an architectural plan on the desk. The architect, wearing a hammer wig, is wearing a sky blue jacket with gold embroidery revealing fine white lace and buttons decorated with golden fleur-de-lis. The fleur-de-lis on the costume suggest that this architect, who has not been identified to date, had close ties with the royalty of the time. This portrait is presented in its Louis XVI period frame in carved oak with its original gilding "in its original juice", on the back there is a trace of a wax seal and an inventory number.
