"Virgin On 17th Century Vellum, Att. Nicolas Robert"
Beautiful virgin in grisaille on vellum, from the first half of the 17th century, attributed to the miniaturist of King Nicolas ROBERT or his entourage. The virgin is represented in an attitude and style characteristic of the works produced under Louis XIII by French artists such as Philippe de Champaigne. The coat of arms of Henri de Béthune appearing at the bottom of the sheet probably makes it a work commissioned on behalf of this great prelate. Very good state of conservation. Presented under glass in a natural wood strip. Total dimensions: 23.5 X 17.5 cm. The vellum alone 14 X 12 cm at sight.
